As part of the Bochum city clean-up, we also want to free the Ruhr-University campus from rubbish. Everything needed to collect rubbish is available: We are only looking for committed employees and students who want to do their bit for the environment and work together to create sustainability on campus.

Registration is requested, but you are also welcome to join spontaneously!

At the start of the summer semester, we welcome all new and old students on campus with an information stand on the topic of sustainability at the Ruhr-University.

You can expect information on sustainable campus life, find out how you can integrate sustainability into your studies, and enactus Bochum, the RUB Studigarten, the Unicef university group Bochum, CampusStars and the RUbea volunteer office will be there to introduce you to their student initiatives.

Did you know that Ruhr University Bochum students can borrow a bike for free for one hour? And that you are supported on campus to repair both bicycles and electrical devices yourself? Maybe you've heard about the food sharing shelf, but don't know exactly where it is?

We would like to show you what opportunities there are to make your everyday life at Ruhr-University a little more sustainable and take you on a little stroll around campus together. You will get to know sustainable places and learn the background to the individual stations. You will learn more about sustainability at the Ruhr-Universität and can talk to us and others in a relaxed atmosphere. You can find more information about the stations under here.

Registration is not necessary. The walk will be held in German.

The biggest Little Farm (2019) documents the journey of John and Molly Chester as they transform a run-down farm into a functioning, sustainable ecosystem. The film shows practical approaches to regenerative agriculture and how these methods can help protect and improve the environment. Through their experiences, it becomes clear that it is possible to make a positive change for future generations with simple but effective measures. The film inspires people to take action and contribute to the conservation of our natural resources.

The film will be shown in the original language (English) with German subtitles.

This film screening is a cooperation with Studienkreis Film Bochum.

Swap old treasures for new favourites - sustainable, free and uncomplicated!

Bring along your unloved but still intact clothes and choose something new. Every swapped item of clothing saves resources and makes a small contribution to our environment and your wallet. Anything left over at the end will be donated to the Altenbochum/Laer clothing centre.

On 8 May and 8 July, the RUB Studigarten will be there to provide you with seeds and plants to swap.

You are welcome to drop by and browse even without bringing anything with you.

Do you fancy getting stuck in and digging in the soil to make the campus a little greener? Then lend a hand and build raised beds and benches with us. No manual experience is necessary. Just drop by and join in!

Together with the AStA, we are organising an exciting pub quiz on the topic of sustainability. Test your knowledge in the categories of culture, biology and geography. Interesting facts about RUB and its sustainability initiatives might also help you.

At the Walk of Diversity, visitors can find out about racism, diversity and cultural diversity at many stands. The stall market is taking place as part of this year's Diversity Day.

We from the NHB will also be there to provide information about ethnic groups and racism in nature conservation.

Together with the team from Frau Lose unpackaged shop(Link is external) active against food waste!

Together, we will conjure up delicious vegan dishes from rescued food and show how simple and delicious sustainability can be. Let's set an example together and conserve valuable resources - because our diet is a great lever for more sustainability!

The workshop is limited to a maximum of 15 participants, so register quickly!

Let's travel through nature together on Trails, make our everyday lives more sustainable with Planet A, scrutinise the patriarchy with PatriarCiao and raise our climate awareness with Klimaxo.

We also have the new Escape Game Escape Climate Change for you. Try to solve various puzzles as quickly as possible as a team to stop climate change!

You are also welcome to bring along other games. We are already looking forward to playing with you!

Living more sustainably in the Smart City Bochum - Stadtlabor visits the AStA Repair Café

Have you ever wondered how we can all live and do business more sustainably? This question is the focus of the upcoming city lab visit on the topic of sustainability at the AStA Repair Café.

The Stadtlabor Nachhaltigkeit cordially invites you to discuss various aspects and explore practical solutions together with exciting guests such as THALES, the RUB Makerspace, the RUB Sustainability Office and the Freunde des Jugendheimbaus e.V..

You can expect keynote speeches, hands-on activities and repairs. Bring broken devices for repair, learn tricks and tips from experts and be inspired.

Admission is free, but we ask you to register so that we can plan ahead.

We look forward to an exciting exchange!

Do you want to tinker and make the campus a little greener? Then lend a hand and build flowering benches with us.

On the first date (24.04.2024) we will build the benches from boxes and wood to later line and fill the planters, build the watering aids and sow the flowers.

No craft experience is necessary. Just drop by and join in!

Find out more about the seasonal diversity of vegetables and learn how you can eat a simple and delicious regional diet, be it through organic markets, food sharing or organic vegetable boxes. Because sustainability starts on the plate.

Let's discuss the future of nutrition together and enjoy vegan food from food sharing and delicious waffles at the same time.

What am I supposed to do with this?

Some of you may have already asked yourselves this question. But why throw away old things when you can give them a new lease of life with a little "pimp up"?

Whether it's old books that haven't been looked at for ages, misprinted comic books or the remains of our "Build 'n' Plant" campaign: we want to upgrade the materials together with you!

You are cordially invited to take part and take home the resulting decorative items, storage options, bookmarks and much more. We will provide you with materials and instructions and look forward to every participation.

On 10.07. you have the chance to be part of our workshop series on the topic of personal sustainability! Be it nature bathing, stress reduction with a short sports session or consciously practicing mindfulness in everyday life - in three crisp workshops you will have the opportunity to actively get to know another component of sustainability. Feel free to wear comfortable clothes in which you feel good and can move well.

You can take part in all three workshops or pick the ones that interest you the most. Everything will take place in the same place in the Botanical Garden, and we will pick you up at the "Mensa entrance" at the beginning of each workshop. We will also indicate our exact location via Instagram story.

Fancy a creative and more sustainable Christmas?

In our cosy DIY workshop, we will upcycle old materials together and use them to conjure up special handmade gifts and decorations.

From individualised gift bags, fragrant garlands and pendants made from wool and paper to homemade washing powder and coffee grounds scrub, we will show you how you can bring great joy with small means - without the consumer frenzy that often characterises the Christmas season.

So come along and create your own eco-friendly gifts for the festive season in a relaxed atmosphere!
