When? New dates from October 2024

Where? In front of the university library (UB)

Did you know that Ruhr University Bochum students can borrow a bike for free for one hour? And that you are supported on campus to repair both bicycles and electrical devices yourself? Maybe you've heard about the food sharing shelf, but don't know exactly where it is?

We would like to show you what opportunities there are to make your everyday life at Ruhr-Universität a little more sustainable and take you on a little stroll around campus together. You will get to know sustainable places and learn the background to the individual stations. You will learn more about sustainability at the Ruhr-Universität and can talk to us and others in a relaxed atmosphere. You can find more information about the stations under Projects.

Registration is not necessary. The walk will be held in German.

When? New dates in the winter semester 2024/25

Where? tba

Bring your unloved but still intact clothes and green roommates (or cuttings and seeds) and swap them for new treasures. Be it decorative items, movies, books, board games or anything else you find at home that you can no longer use.

Every item of clothing and every plant you swap saves resources and makes a small contribution to our environment.

You are welcome to drop by and browse even without bringing anything with you.

Living more sustainably in the Smart City Bochum - Stadtlabor visits the AStA Repair Café

Have you ever wondered how we can all live and do business more sustainably? This question is the focus of the upcoming city lab visit on the topic of sustainability at the AStA Repair Café.

The Stadtlabor Nachhaltigkeit cordially invites you to discuss various aspects and explore practical solutions together with exciting guests such as THALES, the RUB Makerspace, the RUB Sustainability Office and the Freunde des Jugendheimbaus e.V..

You can expect keynote speeches, hands-on activities and repairs. Bring broken devices for repair, learn tricks and tips from experts and be inspired.

Admission is free, but we ask you to register so that we can plan ahead.

We look forward to an exciting exchange!

The schedule

• 14:00: Arrival
• 14:15: Presentation of the Smart City Innovation Unit
• 14:20: Keynote speech by the AStA Repaircafé
• from 14:35: Info points from SCU, RUB Sustainability Office, repairs with the AStA Repaircafé, hands-on stations with THALES and Freunde des Jugendheimbaus e.V., exchange and networking
• 17:00 hrs: End

When? On April 24, April 29 and May 8, each from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m

Where? In front of the Audimax

Do you want to tinker and make the campus a little greener? Then lend a hand and build flowering benches with us.

On the first date (24.04.2024) we will build the benches from boxes and wood to later line and fill the planters, build the watering aids and sow the flowers.

No craft experience is necessary. Just drop by and join in!

Come together and experience sustainability in a playful way - that's what awaits you at "Let's play Green Games"!

Let's travel through nature together on Trails , make our everyday lives more sustainable with Planet A , fight the Patriarchart with PatriarCiao and build the sustainable cities of the future in Neoville.

The inventors of HexAwald - a sustainable board game that was created as part of the "Pitch Your Science" practical seminar - will also be there.

We are already looking forward to playing with you!

It's all about the future of food: we don't just want to talk, we want to act and inspire you to make a positive impact on the climate through your eating habits.

Find out more about the seasonal diversity of vegetables and learn how you can eat a simple and delicious regional diet, be it through organic markets, food sharing or organic vegetable boxes. Because sustainability starts on the plate.

Let's discuss the future of nutrition together and enjoy vegan food from food sharing and delicious waffles at the same time.

What am I supposed to do with this?

Some of you may have already asked yourselves this question. But why throw away old things when you can give them a new lease of life with a little "pimp up"?

Whether it's old books that haven't been looked at for ages, misprinted comic books or the remains of our "Build 'n' Plant" campaign: we want to upgrade the materials together with you!

You are cordially invited to take part and take home the resulting decorative items, storage options, bookmarks and much more. We will provide you with materials and instructions and look forward to every participation.

Workshop 1: Relax and Recover - 11:30 to 12:15

Workshop 2: Mindfulness in everyday life - 12:45 to 13:30

Workshop 3: Nature Bathing - 14:00 to 14:45

Where? On the picnic meadow in the botanical garden

On 10.07. you have the chance to be part of our workshop series on the topic of personal sustainability! Be it nature bathing, stress reduction with a short sports session or consciously practicing mindfulness in everyday life - in three crisp workshops you will have the opportunity to actively get to know another component of sustainability. Feel free to wear comfortable clothes in which you feel good and can move well.

You can take part in all three workshops or pick the ones that interest you the most. Everything will take place in the same place in the Botanical Garden, and we will pick you up at the "Mensa entrance" at the beginning of each workshop. We will also indicate our exact location via Instagram story.
